Spock was unaccustomed to being idle.

Her duties aboard her own Enterprise were difficult and numerous, often occupying the vast majority of her time. She had become acclimated to the constant torrent of work, and the sudden, distinct lack of it was...staggering. Without it, she had devoted her time to the methodical study of the ship, the individual environs, the alternated sections, the various settings, and the informational networks available to her.

As it was, she'd exhausted most reasonable details and, in turn, a vast majority of her patience. Without alternative scientific activities, Spock was left to decide what she wished to do. She had taken copious field notes within the confines of the Mess Hall. She was not in need of food, at current, and her notes were in need of sorting. It would not behoove her to take more, nor to visit that particular environ.

Perhaps exercise would help to clear the impatience that hovered in her veins.

Spock resolved herself to physical activity and left her assigned PADD in her similarly assigned quarters. It was not long before Spock located the gymnasium. Her blues were ineffective as exercise garb, so it was fortunate that spare garments were provided within the allocated dressing area. Properly outfitted, Spock took to the slow, sequential motions of ke-tarya.

There was that hand on her shoulder again. Winona stopped, before looking at Spock with a frown. "I'm not entirely sure how my leg would be that way, it'd be helpful if you moved it for me to make sure I'm not injuring myself with my range when I move it."

That Spock managed to keep both her brows from lifting was rather notable. After a brief pause, Spock inclined her head and removed her hand from Winona's shoulder. That same hand settled against the human's hip, just above the line of her shirt. The other pressed against Winona's thigh, just above her knee and pulled the extended leg inward, decreasing the distance it was abducted from her torso.

Once Spock was satisfied with the arrangement, she casually regarded Winona. Her hands lingered. "If you maintain this level of extension, you are less likely to dislocate your great trochanter."

"Which is very good thing indeed. We wouldn't want me to dislocate that." Winona eyed Spock's lingering hands with a bit of amusement, contemplating asking her to remove them. She decided against actually voicing her request, instead settling for an arched eyebrow as if to ask Spock what exactly she was doing.

Spock answered her eyebrow by arching her own. The nonexpression imparted a lightness to her features that almost reflected amusement. The information imparted, Spock stepped back, and dropped her hands to her sides.

"If you would continue," Spock requested politely.

Winona chuckled slightly before nodded. "It would be my pleasure."

Starting from the position Spock had put her in, Winona moved to complete the other motions with a smile still gracing her features, waiting to see if Spock was going to stop her again for extending in an incorrect manner.

Spock watched her carefully and, as she completed the final motion, held up a hand to prevent her from moving out of it.

"The final strike is meant to carry a significant force," Spock explained as she gently placed her hands against the small of Winona's back and the front of her torso just across her stomach. With slight pressure to both sides, she corrected the error in the woman's posture, deepening it.

"If you hesitate, it significantly reduces the expelled energy and the potential of the action," Spock continued and released Winona's waist. She knelt alongside the human and settled her hands against her extended calf and shin. Winona moved the limb as she pressed it, sliding it further from her torso and forcing her lower to the ground.

"This is proper form," Spock clarified as she slid her hands off Winona's leg and stood once more.

"As you informed me before we began. I'm aware of how significant it needs to be." Winona commented, attempting to ignore the hands that were on her back and abdomen.

"However, I wasn't aware that I was hesitating, must have been an instinctual reaction." Winona attempted to defend her reactions as she moved her leg in the direction Spock desired. Causally thinking about the movement of Spock's hands.

Winona paused before she spoke. "Would you like to see if I can do it properly this time?"

"If you would," Spock agreed and stepped back to permit her adequate room to preform the sequence again. Serenely, Spock folded her arms behind her back, and merely waited for Winona to move of her own volition.

Winona just smirked again as she went through the motions, keeping in mind the corrections to her positions that Spock had made and moved accordingly. When she finished, she looked at Spock questioningly.

"Better?"

"Much," Spock assured her evenly.

"Your inherent style of motion is well suited to ke-tarya," Spock continued, "It is likely that you could become quite skilled."

Winona blushed slightly as she responded. "Really? Is that possibly an offer for lessons? Because I must admit that I do enjoy it and becoming skilled in it sounds delightful."

"Certainly," Spock answered easily and her brows rose again, in tandem. "If you desire the knowledge, I would readily provide it.

"Is there a time frame, convenient to you, in which to conduct said courses?" Spock prompted her.

"Anytime that you can find free. I'm on leave from my proper station, so I technically have nothing to do unless I wish to do it." Winona answered.

"Right now, I would be interested in learning some more moves if it isn't too much, too soon."

"I am similarly unhindered," Spock admitted though the fact held some distaste. It was the cause of her current situation, however, so she could not dislike it expressly.

"Of course," Spock agreed with an incline of her head and rolled her shoulders before taking a new position. Both of her arms stretched out before her, overlapped at the wrist, and Spock exhaled. "Considering your proclivity, it would not be unrealistic to learn two, perhaps three forms in any individual session.

"Please take initial position for this form."

"I take it that you aren't used to it?" Winona commented as she moved into position.

Winona shook her head with a grin. "And you have got to stop those compliments, you think far too highly of me. That first time was probably just beginner's luck."

"Though the belief in some form of animatism is culturally predominant across most of the galaxy, I do not place particular confidence in the concept of luck." Spock turned on her heel and parted her arms, holding them extended before her.

"Please take position two," Spock requested and watched Winona. "As to whether or not I am used to being perpetually idle, I am accustomed to working nearly perpetually. The sudden lack of tasks is...grating."

"Of course, because it isn't logical. Because everything happens for a reason." Winona rolled her eyes in a amusement, meaning no offense with the statement.

"Ah. I'm used to working that much as well, however, I'm considering this quite a relaxing time away from my work." Winona responded before she moved into the second position. "It's nice not having to fix every little thing that goes wrong on a Starship for a change."

"You are an Engineer?" Spock surmised quickly and arched a brow as Winona copied her motions. Without speaking, Spock broke form and adjusted the fall of Winona's right arm, lifting it properly into place. That completed, she dropped back into second position.

"This next motion is complex," Spock warned. Her shoulders shifted and she stepped back abruptly, onto her right foot. She drew her left foot up, pulled her knee almost to her chest, and directed her toes toward the floor. Spock felt little effort holding this pose, but she had done it many times.

"Chief Engineer, but yes I am." Winona answered, resisting the urge to chuckle at Spock moving her arm again.

Winona stared at Spock for a moment before frowning, that pose looked worrisome. She moved to complete the motion, however, Winona failed to realize that her balance was off, leading her to lose her footing and start falling.

The particular sequence they were engaged in was known as a sliding deflection. It was fortunate, at least insofar as it could be fortunate, that Spock was in the third position. She pivoted, dropped her leg, and her extended arms twisted to catch the human before she hit the mat. Spock's brows dipped as she eyed the blonde.

"Perhaps that was too complex," Spock commented, nearly apologetic in her tone.

"No, it was fine, I was getting there, I just lost my footing." Winona's hands moved down to Spock's own as she straightened her body after Spock had caught her.

"I'd like to try it again."

Spock's fingers flexed automatically in response to Winona's hand atop them. Casually, Spock withdrew her hands from the Human's sides and inclined her head. She could feel a light heat spreading across her ears. It was most fortunate they were covered.

"It is very complex," Spock warned her again and stepped back to permit her room. "I will watch and assist you, if necessary."

Winona shrugged as she moved into the first position once again. "That would be appreciated. Mainly because I'm not exactly sure how to make sure I don't fall on my ass every time I attempt that move."

She took a breath before moving to the second position with a smile, waiting for instructions on how to do the third move.

"When you step back," Spock began and moved behind Winona. Her hands settled on the blonde's shoulders and she gently eased them backward. "If you angle your hips forward and your shoulders back, it will counterbalance the shift when you lift your leg."

Spock's hands remained braced against Winona's shoulders as she waited for the woman to move back into third position.

Winona shut her eyes as she lifted her leg, silently hoping she wouldn't fall again. She made sure her shoulders were tilted back and her hips were angled forward before she opened her eyes again. "I'm not in danger of falling right? I'm doing it correct this time?"
